After running with a friend last night, they started stretching while I stood there not sure what to do. Yes, I’ve never been much of a stretcher. After a run, I’m more of a sitter than anything else.
Along with barefoot running, stretching is another part of running that has come under scrutiny recently. This interesting piece references a study that stretching before running or racing can hinder performance while stretching after a run or race can help increase your range of motion and stuff (I didn’t actually read the whole thing).
I might have to get in the habit of stretching after running but it probably won’t happen anytime too soon.
