A blog dveoted to Madison area runners and races

A couple runners with Madison ties have been in the news.
Former UW athlete Chris Solinsky opened 2010 by winning a mile race held Jan. 30 during a collegiate track meet at the other UW—the University of Washington. His time of 3:55.75 is a PR and one of the best indoor mile times posted in the country. Kind of makes you wonder what event (if any) he will be competing in at the USA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Another former UW runner, Simon Bairu, won P.F. Chang’s Rock n Roll Arizona Half Marathon on Jan. 17. He outdueled one of the nation’s best and most well-known distance runners, Ryan Hall, to get the victory in 1:02.47.
Bairu told the Associated Press he will be debuting in the marathon this fall. It will be exciting to see what he can in a marathon.
