Fireman Rob
An incredible athlete for an incredible cause.
The Berkeley Running Company is honored to help sponsor Madison's own Robert Verheist as he begins a heroic mission: "Fireman Rob" will complete 27 Ironman-distance triathlons in 2012, breaking the Guinness World Record to raise awareness for Code 3 for a Cure, a charitable organization dedicated to curing cancer as well as supporting the families of firefighters diagnosed with cancer.
Fireman Rob is an 11-year veteran of the Madison Fire Department. In 2011, to honor the 10-year anniversary of 9/11, Rob completed Ironman Wisconsin while wearing full firefighter turnout gear. This achievement inspired him to set his goal for 2012. Rob began his journey on January 8 in Naples, FL, and will continue to complete triathlons around the country, including Ironman Wisconsin on September 9 - number 17 of 27.
Berkeley is proud to support Fireman Rob, and we will keep the Berkeley community updated as he moves toward this incredible goal.

Joe has a B.S. in exercise science, a CSCS certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and a Level 1 certification by USA Track & Field. Joe draws on more than 13 years of high-level competitive running experience in helping runners at any level take the next step toward their training and racing goals through individualized training plans.

Healthy Hip Workshop

Healthy hips mean happy runners - and tight hips can lead to poor running form and many other issues. Join our friends at the Orange Shoe Gym in Fitchburg to discover how yoga can open your hips to relieve back or knee pain, improve posture and running form, and help keep you injury-free.
This Saturday, Orange Shoe will host a two-hour class leading you through a hip-opening yoga sequence and teaching you how you can use these techniques on your own at home. You'll also take home a detailed handout to help you continue this healthy-hip yoga on your own. All levels welcome!
Orange Shoe’s yoga instructors have helped Orange Shoe earn the Gold Award for Madison’s Best Yoga Studio.
